April 27, 2026 A joint exhibition of seven members of the Lithuanian Folk Artists’ Union Vilnius community, “Color and Ancestral Heritage in Tapestries,” was opened at the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Stained Glass Gallery. The following artists presented their work: Laima Kantakevičienė, Jolanta Tamulienė, Virginija Kasparavičiūtė, Daiva Sveiackaitė, Danutė Blažienė, Marija Misiūnienė, and Zita Nijolė Družinskaitė.
The exhibition was initiated by Member of the Seimas Dalia Asanavičiūtė-Gružauskienė. The Member of the Seimas greeted the authors of the tapestry works and presented them with letters of appreciation and commemorative souvenirs. Artist-textile designer and educator Gražina Kriaunevičienė shared insights and reflections on the development of tapestries in Lithuania and the decorative carpets on display. An excellent musical performance was given by a duo of Lithuanian Academy of Music students: Jonas-Benjaminas Balsys on piano and Vaida Mikalajūnaitė on flute. It is very heartwarming when talented young people find the time and desire to appreciate the beauty of folk art works and to enrich the exhibition presentation event with such sincerity and professionalism.
