“A Year Immortalized in Writing”
April 30, 2026 An impressive jubilee exhibition of folk art works – a sincere, intimate closing event took place at the Trakai Vokė Manor Estate palace. We congratulated and rejoiced with the folk artists who gathered in large numbers for the event, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania Vaida Aleknavičienė who came to honor the exhibition participants, Vice Minister Renata Kurmin, Utena District Vice Mayor Daiva Pečionė, Utena Folk Artists’ Chairwoman Dalia Urbonienė, Elektrėnai Municipality Education, Culture and Sports Department Chief Specialist Ramutė Streibeikienė, Trakai Crafts Center Director Dominyka Semionova, Šalčininkai Cultural Center Deputy Director Ilona Tunevič, Kėdainiai Art Society Chairwoman Albina Mackevičienė, Ethnic Heritage Council Chairman Virginijus Jocys, Vilnius City Municipality Culture Department Chief Specialist Auksė Podrezaitė.
We thank Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania Vaida Aleknavičienė for presenting letters of gratitude to folk artists – veterans whose creative years in the union have continued for 49 or 30 years… Letters of gratitude from the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ethnic Heritage Council, and Utena District Municipality were presented to Chairwoman Ramutė Kraujalienė. The event was excellently hosted by folk artist Tomas Antropikas, with the musical portion performed by Vilnius University folklore ensemble “Ratilio,” directed by Vilius Marma. The program was captivating – like a musical journey through all the regions of Lithuania. We were all uplifted by the wonderful atmosphere, the impressions of the beautiful exhibition, and the smiles and embraces of like-minded people.
The exhibition catalog “A Year Immortalized in Writing” (compiled by Laimutė Fedosejeva and Ramutė Kraujalienė) remains a significant publication documenting the reflections of the year in contemporary folk art works. The commemorative badge “60 YEARS OF THE LITHUANIAN FOLK ARTISTS’ UNION VILNIUS COMMUNITY” was presented to all guests who spread the light of innate talent and folk art.
