RŪTA FABIJONAVIČIENĖ was born in Panevėžys. In 1975 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius State University, chose psychiatry as her speciality and works in it to this day. She has painted since 1987, and since 1994 has attended the art studio “Paletė”. At that time it was led by the well-known painter Rimas Bičiūnas. Its current head is the graphic artist Vladimiras Nesterenko. Since 1995 she has taken part in exhibitions organised by the Folk Artists’ Union. She has held solo exhibitions of her paintings at Lithuanian Television (1996), the Šlapelis Museum (1999), the Žvėrynas Public Library (2001), the Pylimas Gallery (2015) and the VGTU Library (2016). For taking part in the exhibition “Vilnius and its colours” (2016) at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Poland, she received a letter of thanks from Ambassador Šarūnas Adomavičius. In 2016 she was awarded first place in the regional round of the national folk artists’ competition “Aukso vainikas”. In 2016 she was granted art creator status. Her favourite themes are landscape, still life and circus-carnival subjects. Technique: oil painting.
