was born in 1932 in the town of Suwałki in Poland. She has lived in Vilnius since 1939. From an early age Alicija was interested in art. In 1952, after graduating from the Salomėja Nėris Gymnasium in Vilnius, she enrolled in the graphic art programme at the Art Institute. Because of very difficult material circumstances, she had to break off her studies, as she needed to work. Later she studied history at Vilnius University.
Alicija returned to art only after retiring. In 1990 she began attending an art circle that had formed at the Medical Library, and in 1991 – the art studio “Paletė” at the Taurakalnis Culture Centre, led by the painter Rimas Bičiūnas and the graphic artist Vladimiras Nesterenko. Alicija has attended this studio with the greatest enthusiasm ever since.
In 2006 A. Valinčytė – Siudikienė was admitted to the Lithuanian Folk Artists’ Union. In 2008 she was granted art creator status by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
Since 1991 Alicija has taken part in joint folk artists’ exhibitions in Vilnius, Joniškis, Raseiniai, Širvintos, Rokiškis, Suwałki, Moscow, St Petersburg, Novgorod, Medvezhyegorsk and Kaliningrad.
In 2013, for taking part in the national art exhibition of the “Branduma” association of poetry and other art enthusiasts, Alicija was awarded the “Brandumos garbė” badge. In 2000 she held her first exhibition of paintings at the Adomas Mickevičius Public Library in Vilnius.
In 2008 – an exhibition at St Ignatius Church of the Vilnius Garrison of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
In 2009 – an exhibition marking the millennium of the name of Lithuania at the Franciscan Palace.
This exhibition, on display at the Šlapelis Museum, is the author’s fourth solo exhibition.
Alicija has given about 50 paintings to relatives and
friends living in the USA, Norway and here in Lithuania.
