Painting

Eugenija Martinaitytė was born in Kaunas and has lived in Vilnius since 1955. She graduated from Kaunas University of Technology as an engineer-economist, holds a doctorate in social sciences and is an associate professor. She works at Mykolas Romeris University, supervising master’s and doctoral students. She is included in Lithuanian and US encyclopaedias.
She began painting around 1970. Since 1979 she has attended the “Taurakalnis” painting studio in Vilnius. In 1981 she joined the Vilnius Community of the Lithuanian Folk Artists’ Union, and later became a member of the Vilnius Region Folk Artists’ – Art Creators’ Association.
In 2015, by order of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, the painter Eugenija Martinaitytė was granted art creator status. She takes part in national, regional and group exhibitions, and has held four solo exhibitions. Her favourite motifs are landscapes of Žvėrynas, Neringa and the countryside, and panoramas of Vilnius. Her painting techniques are tempera, oil and acrylic.
