Geological monuments in the drawings of Irena Valiulienė
Irena Valiulienė was born in Kretinga and has lived in Vilnius since 1961. By profession she is an engineer, a graduate of the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute. For many years she worked at the Science and Encyclopaedia Publishing Centre (the publisher’s name changed several times).
She is currently a member of the “Paletė” art studio of the Vilnius Culture Centre (since 1989) and of the Vilnius Region Folk Artists’ – Art Creators’ Association (since 1992).
In 2008 I. Valiulienė was granted art creator status. Her paintings and drawings are distinguished by a distinctive expression and a poetic spirit, and often shine with highly original artistic solutions. Views of nature, trees, plants, clouds, hills and distances… Many of her works are connected with Baltic mythology, symbols and the nation’s spiritual and architectural heritage. I. Valiulienė has held more than 14 solo exhibitions and takes an active part in group exhibitions (close to 40). Her works have been acquired by the National Museum of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Art Museum and the Rokiškis Regional Museum.
